Happy November! We aren’t huge fans of the cold, which unfortunately has been abundant around here! Here is edition #5 of our monthly dispatch!
Client Shout-Out- Jon Dedych!
Our November monthly shoutout is for Jon Dedych! Jon is a new client who started in October with a specific goal to be stronger, lose fat, and gain muscle for a trip he had planned to Bali in the winter (yes, we are VERY jealous!). After doing a few weeks of strength training workouts and focusing on diet, his weight was actually about the same. Frustrating! Until we looked at the difference between his body fat and muscle mass, thanks to our InBody scale! Jon has lost 6.4 lbs. of fat and has gained 3.7 lbs. of muscle in just 19 days! YES, you can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time. Bronson Dant and I discussed this in our podcast episode together, but it’s always cool to witness in-person. Nice job Jon!
Monthly Book Giveaway-
The first person to email us a screenshot of a review of our podcast Boundless Body Radio on Apple Podcasts will receive a FREE BOOK! This month we are giving away our last copy of The Quest For Character by two-time podcast guest Massimo Pigliucci!
Bethany’s Move of the Month!
“There are plenty of reasons why shoulder mobility is important, but take a moment to consider how your shoulders are involved in just about every upper body movement, including the most essential of all, the breath. Ensuring full mobilization —including flexibility, glide, elastic recoil, and full range of motion — is key for maintaining peak functionality.
Interestingly enough, while people refer to the shoulder as a singular joint, it actually consists of 4 smaller joints.
The acromioclavicular (AC) and glenohumeral joints are located at the primary joint that connects your arm to your torso, which is what most people picture when they think of the shoulder joint.
The other 2 joints (sternoclavicular and scapulothoracic) help us see the true complexity of the shoulder girdle. While we may not usually associate the collarbone or the shoulder blades (scapulas) with the joint itself, they serve a vital role in many of our everyday motions involving the arm and shoulder.
Functional movements of the shoulder combine linear motion (flexion and adduction) as well as some rotation. For example, when you reach your arm behind your back and up towards your neck, you’re utilizing both extension and internal rotation. Or when you reach your arm across the midline of your body, you’re recruiting both adduction and rotation. Because we need to do these movements for so many different tasks throughout the average day having ample mobility, glide, flexibility, stability, and strength is so crucial.”

Recipe of the Month-
We recently bought a new Trager Pro 575 grill, and this recipe for Loaded Brats looked like the first one that we needed to make! Thank you to IG- @emily_in_keto for sharing this delicious recipe! I don’t (ever) eat vegetables, but this was worth sautéing an onion and some peppers for! Yum!
Grass-fed Beef Deal of the Month-
We are so fortunate to have met Brennen Burkhart and his wonderful family! Brennen is a rancher at HTTL Farms who lives somewhere in the middle of Nevada, and is a rancher who raises 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef. He sells his beef locally, which did NOT disappoint. A client and I split a quarter of a cow recently, and it is absolutely delicious. You can order their beef for the last time in 2022 by using this link! And here is early and exclusive access to the podcast episode we recorded, which is set to be released in a few weeks. We really appreciate our local ranchers who are helping to feed us in a healthy and sustainable way! From Brennen himself-
“With us, It's local! It's fresh! There may not be a lot of animals being harvested at a time. From us, beef is only available in the appropriate season. There is seasonality. It's not available every day of the year.”
Favorite Podcast Episode of the Month-
As we mentioned last month, we recommend and coach our clients with low-carbohydrate, ketogenic, and/or carnivore diets. Former podcast guest Dr. Tro Kalayjian and Dr. Brian Lenzkes interview two low-carbohydrate rockstars, former podcast guest Chris Cornell, and Vic Basmadjian! They both have incredible stories to tell, and Dr. Lenzkes did a great job hosting them both on this episode.
…And Finally, A Quote We’ve Been Thinking About-
“Do not indulge in dreams of having what you have not, but reckon up the chief of the blessings you do possess, and then thankfully remember how you would crave for them if they were not yours.”
-Marcus Aurelius
